As planned, today was Sukhothai historical park day. We took it easy in the morning - it was a rest day after all - but were still on our way by 9.30am. There is a direct road front the new to the old town, but we took some small back roads, much nicer.

Until the end of this month, these historical parks are free to visit (was also the case in Kamphaeng Phet) in remembrance of the Thai king. No complaining about that! So we rode through the main park, took our time to stroll around the monuments and make pictures. Funny enough, once we went to the slightly smaller monuments there were almost no other tourists. In fact, there were not that many at all...

We also cycled to the temples that are spread out a bit further, outside of the main historical park. Although this was at least our third visit to Sukhothai, we had never gone there before. We found that really the best part; the buildings as such are maybe less impressive, but the environment, the entire picture is just nicer. The park is very well done, really beautiful, but it is still a man made park. Outside it's more natural, authentic. It's also why I still like Kamphaeng Phet better, without doubt. See that
post.

Now we're in the guest house, and what had to happen one day, has happened: my stomach is not happy with today's food it seems, and it's coming out in several ways but not how it's supposed to. So taking it easy now, hopefully it'll be better by tomorrow morning. Tuning out for today, ciao.
