There should be a Sukhothai part 2 later on as well, I hope I can fulfill that promise... Today we cycled from Kamphaeng Phet to Sukhothai, which means in this case the Sukhothai "new town" - so we have not yet visited the ancient city. That's about 13km from here, and we'll keep that for tomorrow.
Rather than doing today in words, I'll do it in pictures with some explanations.

From Kamphaeng Phet it's a long while along the road 101, which is OK but not fantastic. However, after some 45km, we turned into road 3049, much much nicer: great scenery, nice cycling. We start to see a lot of rice paddies here in this area now. Thailand is the second exporter of rice worldwide, by the way... The mountains in the back accompanied us for a very long time today, they're part of the Ramkhamhaeng national park (which we did not visit) |

Road 3049 (becoming 1272 afterwards), a great alternative to road 101 for cycling. We saw around 10 cars in more than 20km of cycling! |

Sukhothai new town, street view - doesn't look that new to me though |

Electric wiring in Thailand. No problem! |
Tomorrow is a rest day, after 6 consecutive days of good cycling. Another 89km today, bringing the total over the past 6 days to around 550km... Not bad!!! And what shall we do on our rest day? We'll cycle! To the Sukhothai old city and around!
