Malaysia Quarantine - Day 5 - Community

Ha! Day 5, done and dusted - and still smiling! It's been a "busy" day again today: playing games, eating, working on my 1993 diary, blogging, calling, drinking coffee, watching the rain, ... It's not that hard!

We woke up to a beautiful morning today. It has been very rainy the last couple of days, and so it was this afternoon. Seems the monsoons have started early this year?

There have been some exciting specials today. First, we heard the doorbell around noon, announcing our lunch meal. However, when we opened the door, there was no meal at all. There was a refill of Nescafe, sugar and creamer. Never mind about the Nescafe and sugar, but hey thank you for the creamer! We needed that, we were almost left without. So, back to whatever we were doing, without lunch but with the peace of mind that we had much more creamer for all our coffee sessions!

I wasn't going to do the daily food pictures... But today, I can't help it, it's just part of the story - especially in Malaysia where food is of highest importance. And it was a very nice lunch, with biryani, nicely spiced and with raisins, yummy curry chicken and vegetable dal. It almost seems the food gets better with the day.

Then, early dinner time, again doorbell and a knock on the door. Dinner must have surely arrived! Hell no, it hadn't, there was a guy in full covid battle dress outside the door. From the Ministry of Health. Oh-oooh. No concerns: he just came to bring our mandatory wristbands which we have to wear until the end of the quarantine - and another paper to sign off. So, back to whatever we were doing, without dinner but with the peace of mind that we were in good hands (are we?). In fact, earlier in the day, a doctor called, reconfirming my name and passport number, then started to talk about my swab test. I almost thought they tested me positive by the sound of it, but but but... they could not find back the result! I guess meanwhile they have, because I haven't heard back from them. LOL

Wristband, to be worn until 23/09 - now fully officially our release date. They used to be pink, now only the accompanying document. Maybe they were out of stock?...

So, community was today's title. Is there something like a covid quarantine community? Well, there is - sort of. Most active is a group on FB, the Malaysia Quarantine Support Group. There is a lot of very useful info there, but also a lot of funny things, stupid questions, and other typical FB crap. To be clear: I don't want to be negative about it, at all, it has been extremely useful in preparing for our quarantine, to know what to do and to expect. There is also another group providing info to expats stranded abroad, which has been also very useful for updates on the topic.

Some people have been very creative during their quarantine, but this one beats it all! She has been photoshopping herself (her "alter ego") into her pictures, seemingly having company in the room. Fantastic, so well done!
(I deleted names of the people I copied posts from, for obvious reasons)

Here's another very funny one. Just try to imagine who could be the person with the hoodie and the beautiful eyes? With these lovely handwritten letters from the hotel staff. Great!

Classic, especially the second comment

Next to FB, we know that many "batches" in hotels have formed their own WhatsApp chat groups, but that's not the case where we are - and I don't see the need for it. It might be good if there are problems, to jointly complain, which is not needed here - not for now. There is a group from the authorities however, giving some instructions and reminding us to do our compulsory daily reports...

Official communication - via WhatsApp

People are doing funny things - because they have time! This is made from unused sugar packages.

And then this: being quarantined in Vietnam. That's a whole other story... Full PPE, ambulance... Pfiew.

OK, we have had a lot of rice and chicken, we have also had other stuff - unlike some others it seems. 12 days of chicken and rice, well well. Sure, it's not a holiday, but still...

Well, another day, another blog post! There are some idea's for tomorrow, but: if there are any topics you'd love to read more about, I'd love to hear!
