We had our wonderful day with the 3Rs in Fraser’s: rest, read and replenish. No hurry to wake up, no plan to leave early, just enjoy the cool day and the beautiful nature. We went for an easy walk, and have to add a 4th R: rain... We were washed out, but even that was fun, and the rest of the day it was really cool - or should we say cold? Maybe even less than 20C! Replenish was not a problem, the food at Stephen’s was great and plenty!

Today we left Fraser’s Hill and we decided to ride all the way back home in one go. The first 45km were easy; most of it is downhill from Fraser’s to Kuala Kubu Bahru (“KKB” in short), with just a few short gentle ups. Once we had rolled down, we had some relatively flat distance to cover for a while, some of it on busy roads, some quieter. But all in all, the entire day was beautiful cycling again, until the last 20km into KL it was really green, hilly, little urbanised and not too much traffic. Once we passed Ulu Yam we still had a big hill to climb, 1 hour non-stop climbing, and a few smaller ones afterwards as well, but we got home by 4.30pm.

We had some great stops on our way today as well. We stopped at some natural springs near the lake towards KKB and had a pleasant chat with some people filling up their water bottles; we had lunch at a restaurant in Ulu Yam which we know from our hash on-on’s; we had another stop at a spring on top of the hill after Ulu Yam, again with some pleasant chats; and we enjoyed an ice cold sugar cane juice on the outskirts of KL which was simply heaven.

Good lunch in Ulu Yam, with yummy coconut prawns; at a place some of you will certainly recognise (On On!) |

The final big climb |
So we got back home after 8 beautiful days on the road again (having covered close to 550 km or so), and it must be said that it was really beautiful from beginning to end. What a wonderful nature we’ve been able to ride through, almost constantly. How fascinating these kampungs everywhere. And how nice the people were, with all their hello’s, the friendly honking, waving, smiles, ... Yes, it was much shorter than our long journey, but it was certainly wonderful as well. To be continued!!!
