Who are we to disagree? Today was again a WOW day! Finally, after some days which were more about the destiny and less (too little) about the journey, it was all about the journey today. It was just fantastic! Nice road with a decent shoulder, light traffic, great scenery, beautiful weather (very cool morning and a sunny but not too hot day with clear blue sky), friendly people everywhere, good cycling. We had constant headwind, but even that couldn't spoil the fun. The road was almost flat with a very slight climbing tendency, really just slightly, and a gentle uphill towards the end. And after that, it was a pleasant downhill fun ride almost until the finish.

A peculiar view on our way: the Grand Prix Golf Resort, with windmill (proudly sponsored by Isuzu) and all... |
|
Still the Resort, they also have a farm with totally real alpacas and sheep |
|
Euh, stainless temple??? |
Sweet dreams also because of the vegetation. If the lower south of Thailand was palm and rubber, the upper south coconut and pineapple, then we are now in sugarcane country! Sugarcane all the way, everywhere! Quite pretty, certainly with the mountains in the west and hills in the east. Unfortunately we did not find sugarcane juice, very nice when ice cold... Besides the sugarcane there is also a lot of cassava in this area. So the land was actually less dry then yesterday again, although the air is clearly still by far not as humid as before.

Time for a break! With coffee and beautiful scenery |

Sugarcane lane: everywhere! Front: already harvested (harvest was going on everywhere too), back: still all sugarcane |

Wonderful riding on road 3086, this is the "top" of the hill |
Finally, some sweet dreams in the stomach too! We had our morning break with coffee and tasty oranges. We had lunch at a small roadside restaurant with friendly people, and enjoyed a nice kway teow nam - kind of noodle soup. On the descent after the climb, we found a perfect place for a Thai style ice tea, and some sweet ice dessert; great to replenish our energy for the last 20km. You need a lot of energy when cycling daily like this and we definitely got that today!

Nice place with friendly people for lunch |

Ice tea and ice dessert on the way down, irresistible! |
To wrap-up this top-day completely, we found a camp site just next to the Krasiao lake in Dan Chang. The people are not the nicest we have met so far, but no real complaints about that; their food was great but a bit exaggerated in price. So far for the complaint section, because this is a fantastic spot, with a premium view, and our tent just about a meter away from the lakeside. Sweet dreams will be made of this tonight, for sure!!!
