Tassie days

After Sander in Melbourne we also visited Vere in Launceston, Tasmania, and I hadn't been able yet to write a post about that part of the trip yet. Here we go!
Vegan picnic prepared by Vere, in a small park right next to her student house
Walking in Cataract Gorge
Sunset at the Tamar River in Launceston
It was so nice to visit both kids, and to see that they're both doing well. Sander was in his very last days of study - meanwhile even finished his last classes - while Vere just got started 2 months ago. We hadn't been there since she had moved, so it was nice to go there, understand where she lives now, and help her getting installed well - although that was pretty much done already!
An old gold mine in Beaconsfield, north of Launceston
A different but also very nice kind of coffee moment
Typical colours of Australia in Narawntapu National Park
We were lucky to get spoiled with a couple of wonderful days, real "Indian summer" days. Perfect for some day trips, picnics, strolling though town, ... We went to Cataract Gorge and the Tamar Wetlands near Launceston, and to Greens Beach and the Narawntapu National Park 1,5h north of Launceston, spent the night impromptu in a cabin, and did a bit of hiking. This region is full of wildlife, we saw plenty of wallabies, kangaroos, pademelons (wallaby like), wombats, possums, and lots of birds of all sizes and colours. Wow, wonderful!

One of the beaches in Narawntapu National Park
This place is so picturesque...
The girls hiking and hiding in the shadows
We also got to know Launceston better. We were there before, very shortly, almost 1,5y ago. We remembered it as a sleepy boring town, but now experienced it very differently! It's a historic town with many old buildings, and beautiful architecture. It has a good choice of restaurants, bars, shops and like every Australian town that takes itself a bit serious: good coffee! It looks like a very liveable place like that, together with its waterside and the nearby natural attractions! Good choice, Vere!
Another magnificent landscape
Hello!
And another wonderful sunset
We had a great time in Australia reunited with the kids! And of course not to forget: also big thanks to Jan & Annemie in Melbourne for spoiling us, and for the nice days together!
