Surprising Langkawi

The last 2 days we have been enjoying Langkawi; really, enjoying, this place is so nice. Yesterday was a real rest day, just a little bike ride to find breakfast and then a short ride to Tanjung Rhu - one of the nicest beaches in Langkawi. In the afternoon we had to go back to Kuah. The people from the Keriang Homestay had been so nice to bring my glasses to the jetty in Kuala Kedah and post it with the ferry to Kuah! So rather than having to go back all the way to Gunung Keriang, we could just get the package from the terminal in Langkawi! Wow, so grateful to these people for helping out like that. So now I can see properly again...
Great view from a beach restaurant, around the corner from our guest house (Tanjung Puteri Motel, a strong recommendation)

Well maintained rubber plantation in Langkawi. Malaysia is a major rubber producer, and also leader in rubber gloves production (also other rubber stuff I guess)
Today we changed location, and took the long way. It meant we did a good 50km, with some heavy hills on our way, and visited a really marvellous beach, a waterfall, and had yet another beautiful day! Langkawi has so many surprises, if you just do an effort to get off the beaten track and explore. Some of the beaches and scenery we have seen here, touring on our bicycle, can easily compete with much more well known places in the region (Phuket for instance!), yet it is much less popular. There are tourists for sure, but they all go to the same places. Luckily maybe...
The perfect location for a break after some serious hills... (yes you can see our nice spot in the shadow...)
Then, late afternoon, Sander and Vere arrived from KL! So now, the family is complete again, and for the next 2 weeks we'll be happy holidaying with them, mostly in Koh Lipe, probably some other places in the region too!
Temurun waterfall, with very little water now - no rain yesterday! With the beach, well worth the detour.
